Sleeper State Park is known for its scenic beauty and recreational opportunities, including camping, hiking, fishing, and paddlesports. The large campground has modern and rustic campsites, as well as cabins and safari tents. In the day use park, you’ll find several miles of hiking trails, a sandy beach, and picnic areas. Fishing is popular in the park. Sleeper State Park is open year-round and provides a serene and peaceful setting for outdoor enthusiasts to explore and enjoy. Check out their Explorer Program where seasonal naturalists offer weekly nature-based nature programming Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Beach

Sleeper State Park’s sandy beach & picnic area is located on M-25 and offers visitors a great spot to enjoy the water, go hiking, or just hang out. (recreation passport required)

Day Use Park

The Day Use park at Sleeper State Park offers access to a sandy beach, hiking trails, picnic areas, and a concession stand.

Campground

The campground at Sleeper State Park offers modern RV spots and rustic camping options. There are also cabins and safari tents available for rent. Access the Day Use park and beach via a pedestrian bridge over M-25.

Hiking

Sleeper State Park offers 4 connected hiking trail options in the campground area. Day Use visitors can park at the camp headquarters on State Park Drive to access the trails.

The Deer Run trail is the longest of the trails at 2 miles thatl leads visitors through a variety of terrain, including forested dunes, an oak and pine savannah and wetlands.

The Candlestick Trail winds for a quick .63 miles and connects to the park’s other three trails.

The .65 mile Old Dunes Nature Trail is a looped learning trail featuring educational signage about the park’s natural features.

The Huron Trail is a quick .2 miles and connects the Candlestick Trail to the Deer Run Trail.

Location

Sleeper State Park is located between Port Austin and Caseville on M-25 with the day use park on the water side and the campground across the road.
